Hi guys, was wondering if there are sim cards you can buy that will work all over the world that you can top up with money online. If anyone has come accross anything like this or used one let me know.

Yep, these exist. If you have a look at our Prepaid SIM Cards page, you'll see links to two different options under the heading Global SIM Cards about 2/3 of the way down the page. My understanding is that they are usually slightly more expensive than buying a local one for each country, but of course have the benefit of meaning you always have the same number, regardless of which of the countries you are visiting....

Actually, ekit has a special on now where you can enter your Travellerspoint username to get a 'free' international sim card. I put free in between brackets, because you actually have to charge it up with 20$ calling credit to get it...

Hey matey. Sam I Am raises a great point in having one number no matter what country you are visiting. Coming from a cost-wise perspective it really depends on where you are going and for how long your travel is to determine if it is worth getting the 'one sim card fits all' as it may be a little more expensive, as Sam said. An easy example is say if you are going to Australia and NZ then when in Aussie you can get a sim card for a buck or two bucks, top up and still use it in NZ. Thinking about it now there could be a number of scenarios :P, this probably just adds more to confusion than a solution haha. Cheers
