So I'm sure you've all been asked before, but I am far too impatient to trek through all of the forum pages;

I need to know what kind of money I should be taking with me as I travel around europe for 2-3 months

I have heard many things, the main being; take 1500 Euro for each month, excluding flights and trains/coaches.

Is that about right, or does anyone have any other figures??

I'm planning to stay in hostels most of the time, and camp out occasionally, not to go clubbin too much, just the occasional mad one, and get a train pass of some sort. So other than that, and food, i cant think what else to spend it on.

Anyway, tips would be much appreciated

Cheers, Dan

1500 Euro sounds about right....budget at 50 euros a day for 30 days. Also, bring an emergency supply of cash/credit. You don't want to get caught over spending with no back-up, or the last few nights of your trip will be spent in the bus/train station :) I had all my bases covered when I went...I had travellers cheques, my bank card and my visa. Just in case.

Cheers,
Katie ;)

50 Euros a day?
That sounds a lot to me.

Because I don't think that you spend money on museums etc. everyday and specially when travelling you don't eat out all the time, go shopping etc.

OK, I've never backpacked through Europe, but just from living here I think you won't need 50. But probably it's better to have too much with you than too little.

Moreover I found out, that hostels here are really expensive compared to hostels in other countries. What I found really annoying was(because I didn't know) that there's no kitchen, where you can make ur own food (that was in salzburg)

ok... probably I didnt help you with this at all... :(

maybe you should work it out urself...

how much do I wanna spend for food, accomodation, sightseeing, traintickets (emergencies) etc. per day

all the best
Kathi

Trains and hostels will be a drain on your 50euro daily budget, but by the sound of your post, youd be like me and want to get on a session and sample the local nightlife etc. This is where it becomes tricky, do most of your partying in the more Eastern countries, they are crazier anyway (but the music can be horrific). I paid the same for 1 bottle of Becks in Venice as i had for 10 pints of Staropramen in Prague (about 10Euro). All in all you'll be more than safe with 50euro a day spending money. Enjoy.
