I have also heard that Alexander isn't very good at all. I hoping that would be an accurate historical record becuase I'm a fan of historical (fiction) movies and books.

No, it's not accurate at all. Stone turned Alexander into a mama's boy and a wimp who spent his life running away from mama's conspiracy tales. Gah.

The entire cast were poor, the script was pathetic, the directing lacked focus. Don't watch it.

Last movie I saw was "The Last Samurai" with Tom Cruise. I didn't really expect to like it overmuch but I loved it! It was really well done, and the actual photography was amazing. Beautiful landscapes that I wouldn't associate with Japan right away.

And The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is amazing! I saw it when it first came out in the theatres and my sister and I just exclaimed a collective "NOOOO!" when it was finished. We wanted more! My sis bought the DVD as soon as it came out!

I saw the Bridget Jones movie at Fox Studios (Sydney) yesterday. It was the "part two" or whatever it's caused (age of reason?).

Anyway, I thought it was good in parts, but disappointing overall. I mean, she ends up in a Thai jail and has some hot 22 year old chick trying to kiss her?

Hope there's not a part 3, but at least the tickets were a free-bie!

no, your ok, Helen Fielding only wrote 2 Bridget Jones novels.

Not sure why I know that...

A good year for movies all round I think, with Eternal Sunshine and The Motorcycle Diaries being highlights for me. I haven't seen Alexander yet but am a huge Oliver Stone fan, surely its not that bad? Also i rewatched The Royal Tenenbaums yesterday What a movie.

Far as I'm concerned, Oliver Stone destroyed whatever credibility he had with Alexander. I'm aghast he could even put forth this film to insult his audience's intelligence.

Let me know if I should provide you with a full-blown rant/analysis of the movie.

The last film (Documentary) was Farenheit 911 by Michael Moore.

Summer, please feel free to get your hatred of Alexander off your chest. I must say from what I've read I am very dubious about the whole thing now. I think the general reaction shows how far up the asses of all the major studios Empire magazine is now, the gave it four stars. I wonder if Baz Luhrman will attempt to make his Alexander now that Stone has obviously failed the capture the publics imagination.
