I saw "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" just after Christmas. Fabulous! Very strange and quirky - a mix of reality, computer animation, and just plain strangeness. I highly recommend it! The movie trailers don't do it justice - although I'm not sure how you'd make a trailer for that movie, come to think of it...

Tway...I'm dying to see "The Life Aquatic!" I heard that if you liked "The Royal Tanenbaums" you'll like that movie. Is that true (if you've seen both)?

I guess to update on my movie-watching status....I just got both "Anchorman" and "Garden State" on DVD and watched both of them this week. I highly recommend them! They're great in their own ways. And I just watched a (really) oldie, but a goodie - "Singing in the Rain." That's about the only old musical that I like! The "Make 'Em Laugh" number is the best!

Cheers,
Katie ;)

And now for the ultimate in movies: I saw Napoleon Dynamite a few weeks ago. It is a brilliant movie. I walk around quoting him daily, and will never forget his "run" and the slap (watch the movie, you will understand). This is going to sound completely contradictory, but it is a boring movie. What makes it simply brilliant is the fact that the dullness is completely on purpose. The director wants you to understand how boring and backward life is in small-town Idaho (by that I mean that particular town, it's not a commentary on actual Idaho). Plus the dialogue carries a lot of the movie. I quote:

"My favorite animal is pretty much the liger." Liger. Pretty much. Do you see what I'm saying? Love it!

Tam

P.S. The liger is a "mythical" animal that is part lion, part tiger.

I preferred Jamie Foxx. His performance was better.

You think? I thought Jamie didn't shine like he usually does. Now "RAY" that was a shining moment! Good flick!
