So exciting! :)

Im planning on flying now on the 16th October into sydney for the ozintro week, then catching a flight to cairns
(cheapest way by far ) then travelling back down to sydney stopping at all the great places on the way for dec 20th as booked into the YHA sydney central for the xmas/n yr period, then going down to melbourne and do the great ocean road,
hopefully will do this over a 3-4 month period in which i shouldnt have to work (bonus), then probably will have to look into having to get some sort of work as will probs be proper skint by then.

If you is thinking of being in sydney for the xmas period i would strongly reccommend that you book asap as i have found it hard to find decent places this week as most places are fully booked already, dont much fancy staying in a hell hole over xmas x

hey guys! thought I'd join back in again.
how's all the plans going?
Gail, we so should organise to meet up.
Kate and I are hopefully booking our tickets this weekend to go end of October and doing to ol' Cairns to Sydney in the 2months leading up to xmas/nye. So you think maybe a good idea to book now for Sydney NYE?
ohhh... any suggestions on luggage, I've seen a few things posted on here, but a bit unsure what to go for!

Hi Claire

Great to hear from you, yes we will defo meet up and have a good old chin wag, im really pleased that you have defo decided that you are going to go for it and take the plunge down under. my plans r to fly the 16th oct from london heathrow as the flights are really booking up fast as it is half term week and also the start of the 4 nations rugby tour in oz, so everyone i have contacted has said i need to book now or i will be dissapointed, the price i got was flying with Qantas for £934, if you leave it another week or two it is going over the £1000+ mark.

With regards to the hostel situation for xmas and new year i have booked into the Yha Sydney central from dec 20 - jan 3rd, as most places are now totally booked up, i really fancied staying at the YHA The Rocks but that was totally full at the beginning of May, i have booked into a 6 share female room, if you and kate want to do the same we could possibly cross the bookings and share a room, I joined the YHA over here it cost me £15 but it has saved me over £60, so well worth it!!

About the luggage i have bought a 100L holdhall on wheels as i couldnt bear the thought of having to carry a backpack around with me, and also trying to find stuff in it would be a nightmare without getting it all out, i bought mine from Go outdoors and it cost me £50 it opens just like a suitcase on top so you have easy access to everything xx

Cor it does start getting expensive... phew!
We best get booking asap.... makes it real... eek!
Yeh I saw the rocks and thought it sounded like the perfect place, but I think where ever you go it'll be the best night!
I think we're doing a bit of Oz planning tonight so will have a look at YHA Sydney Central :o)
Ahhh 100L holdall with wheels... sounds like the way forward. Think i'm gonna have to go have a look at a few and then buy online... £50 that's cheap!
Yeh thinking backpack is not the best option, so something on wheels that's squashy would be best.
so what about from cairns onwards? what's the plan so far?
are you doing the oz intro?

Yeah still planning on doing the ozintro as im billy no buds lol, hoping to make some friends to travel with whilst im there. spending the 1st week in sydney then catching a flight to cairns which costs about £80 then travel back down visting all the places inbetween prob using the greyhound service which i have been looking into, seems the cheapest and easiest way to do it, would also like to maybe hire a campervan at some point, (just to give it a go and for a laugh )
I have just checked the YHA Sydney central website and they r now all booked up also, you really do need to sort something quick, i have checked the YHA sydney railway square which is only 50m further up the road and they still have some vacancies in a 4 or 6 share female room for the same price as the other one,. xx

I need to book my flight to Cairns soon too, and somewhere to stay when I get there. Any tips on booking the Cairns flight?

I just didnt know what to do when i booked only the other nite as the places are booking up fast so just booked it so i wasnt left out on a park bench somewhere lol

oh no, sold out... man we really need to get onto this nye situation!
oh, will defo look at the railway square one... now!
oh we were thinking the campervan travelling is going to have to be done.... music playing, wind in your hair... coast to the left of ya, sun-a-shining ... etc etc ohhhh soudns a bit thelma and louise but has to be done! Yeh we were looking into the greyhound bus, there are so many options to choose, but def the cheapest way I think.
I think the OzIntro thing sounds great, you will def meet so many people on that and no doubt most of them will be doing the same route!
ok, off to check out railway square
xx
