Thanks for tips Lou!

Well im looking to travel through Asia aswell but i think doing oz first seems good idea give me some exeperience etc. im abit like you abit stubborn hehe and i like being independent but im only 23 hehe so abit younger! Im basically fed up of daily routine and want some excitment and think there is more to life than just were i live and wanna see and do stuff!

Were did you even start at organising lol i mean i know were i wanna go in oz which is pretty much all of it but whats best to look at first flights? hostels? to actually get the visa first ?

As im going spain for 2 months to stay with my mate its gonna be even harder to organise unless i do most stuff online! :)

Yeah thanks Lee for rubbing it in that you're not quite as old as me ha ha, really appreciated!!!

I reckon the first thing would be to get your visa sorted cos if you need to be able to work whilst there it wold be a nightmare planning it all, paying out for flights etc then finding out you can't go!!

Next I'd decide on what date you want to go, book flights then sort out accomodation. Personally I've only booked accom for the first week when I arrive in Sydney, then I thought I'd go from there based on chatting to people out there, see where they recommend etc. Word of mouth has gotta be the best way to find the good places to stay etc I would think.

Pretty much everything that needs doing before you go can be done online I reckon so even if you're dong it from Spain you should be fine.

Enjoy!!!!!!

Hahah sorry

Ok i think i start with the visa thing first then!

I totally agree word of mouth is defiantly gonna be the best way i sort of have the same idea of arriving and just booking a week or 2 and go from there! Although i have pondered the idea of getting a campervan or summin and driving around think that be pretty good :)

Once again thanks for the tips!!

I let you know how i get on

Hey guys,

Gail, I'm 24, and I'm thinking of starting out by staying in Sydney and getting a job for a few months to pay for travelling after that, as don't have thousands already saved, just have basically enough to get there, and do the ozintro thing to help me get set up. I don't know how everyone else is funding and planning their trips? or whether it is worth it to work considering I'll have to pay rent and stuff to stay living in the same place, but think it might be for the experience of being in sydney to enjoy while I am saving money, rather than staying in england and working to fund it. I was also thinking of going more like July or August, but a lot of people seem to be going a bit later, I guess cos it'll be getting towards summer more then, but I figure if Im there for a whole year anyway it doesn't really matter when I go.

Hello Laura,

From what ive read and heard from people who have been is that staying in Sydney is the most expensive thing to do as most expensive city so if you tight for money you may want to look in to that if you not already i could easily be wrong! Ive not actually booked anything yet so im not sure how much it will cost for me to start up but ive got abit saved up to cover me i hope!

im not sure what people roughly go with, a friend of mine is out there now and went in november and took 3000 and said it went very quick not sure if that is sterling of oz dollas!......but all depends on what u want to do anyways and how quick u get a job!

Hi Micky! I'm 24 and going to Oz on my own to work too, but I'm going at the begginning of August with Ozintro, I feel so much more confident knowing that I'm going with that much support, as I've never travelled before! Sooo excited about it though, it looks like a great program, and this thread let me know about it, so grateful for that!

Hi Micky,

I am looking to land in Sydney in September/ October after I have been on a little Asian tour. After reading posts on here the Ozintro option is looking like the best one for me aswell as even though it will cost a little bit more I reckon the experience of it is worth it.

Let me know how you get on and if we are around at the same time we should meet up.
