In Shanghai there is some good shopping, a tiny tea garden, 2 museums and some temples, the Bund (yawn), and just wandering around. I have been to a few Expos and room prices go up and up. Prices in the Expos are very expensive so if visiting, take food and drink with you.

Are the beggars still there?

I'm pretty sure there's gonna be beggars in Shanghai, but surely they are going to crack down on it, at least around the expo time.

I think the most exciting thing in Shanghai is the maglev train, there's something about whizzing past all the cars on the freeway that I really like, being on it like 10 times already, and still not sick of it yet.

Also the sky deck on that blue building (with a hole on the top) has a really good view of the city (although the pollution gets in the way a bit, but hey it's still a good view). You can also watch the lights come on across the river at 6:30pm.

So there, something to do in Shanghai. In all fairness, if you're visiting for the first time, the city has plenty to offer, awesome food (if you know where to go), good places to shop (if you are good with bargaining), and random craziness you'll surely run into. If you get sick of the city, head to Zhejiang for temples, Chinese gardens and scenic spots.

I dont see beggars, its my 2nd week, and I have been here 3 times... But NANJING has a LOT!!! It was awful, you are sitting in some corner, eating YOGHURT and feeling so happy, and then suddenly a beggar tries to rob you of your moment of peace... I'm sorry but there are times, when you just knows these beggars are ABUSIVE. I don't feel like BONO or Angelina Jolie, 24 hours, so I was really annoyed, when these beggars enter Mc.donalds and KFC.

The ticket according to my friend is 140 RMB, but I dont know if its like for the whole area alraedy. I assume it is, and if it is really 140, it aint Expensive... COZ in China, in small towns attractions dont go below 100... so for Shanghai standards, I'd pay 140 to see the EXPO...

My hostel, will increase its price from 50 to 100, so I am moving to Fujian Province or Shandong, before this EGO 2010, will start.

sounds like every other city in Asia... well I am here to meet a good friend, who is more amazing than the great wall.

The bund was better last year... tHE railings were replaced by a GREY or white WALL, so WHEN people take photos infront of the old buildings, the PHOTOS look BAD... Its awful... my photos last year were fantastic... This year, I only took 2 photos. SOMEONE should tear those walls down and put back the railings., fortunately, the side that faces the PUDONG area retains its railings... and you can lean on it, when you have your photos taken.

Well, I was attending a wedding in Wuhan, and beggars come around to the wedding party. Apparently we had to give for good luck, or bad luck if we don't, something like that. Then it attracted more beggars.... ugly ugly....

Those beggars are mostly professional by the way, and many of them pretend to have some disability, which they don't really. So don't be intimidated into giving money or feel bad to not give anything to them.
