jamieaston has indicated that this thread is about Nepal

Hi there,
Am traveling in Nepal for 2 weeks in April and have created a basic itinerary listed below. I was wondering whether you would include anything else to this list, or would remove something to this list? I have also written a list of things to do in Kathmandu, however, I only have 2/3 days there, so I need to probably shorten it, and work out which order I should see things, so if you could help me with that, I would be very appreciative.
With kindest regards,
Jamie

Basic itinerary:
Bus to Pokhara
2 Days here relaxing by the lake (phewa lake)
4-5 Days Hike to Tatopani or Ghorepani to see beautiful mountains on Poon Hill. (part of the annapurna Circuit) Annapurna sanctuary, Poon hill, ABC trail
2 Days back in Pokhara
2 Days Chitwan National Park for a safari
2 Days back in Kathmandu

Things to see and do in Kathmandu:
Boudha,
swayambhu (both large stupas on opposite sides of the city),
Pashupati,
Boundnath
Pashuptinah,
Dakshinkali,
Three durbar squares
Monkey temple
Watch sunrise n Nagarkot
Bizarre thamel
2 hour trip to last resort near barabise - bungy jumping, canyoning, rafting etc (they have a sales office near to kathmmandu guest house in centre of thamel)

Cheers

Hi,

you seem well informed actually. Of course your sight seeing list is too large for such a short time in Kathmandu.
Already traveling by taxi (forget the buses in Kathmandu) will cost you some hour or two from one destination to an other due to the huge traffic congestion in the mornings and late afternoons. I recommend to take one day for going to the historical city of Bagtapur (entry fees required for tourists...I do not know how much it is now...not much anyway)
This is a living museum city about 2 hours taxi ride from KTM center to the east. It has the most impressive and beautiful temple complexes and palaces in Kathmandu valley. Its the place where the movie Little Buddha was made some 16 or 18 years ago. Don't miss out these temples, they are huge and very well preserved. For the rest...your list is nice. Drop Pashupati for Boudha stuppa and drop Dakshin Kali for Patan. Then you will be alright. Time left? See Swayambhunath the so called (ill called) Monkey temple complex...large view over the city to the north. Do not try to touch or communicate with a monkey and keep your belongings tight to your body. Monkeys there touch you back if you look away and then you may need a doctor. Just ignore them and watch all your loose bungling stuff...they also snatch cameras and run, or plastic bags that are in your hand. High speed...no chance recover stuff if they do!

Have a nice journey

If you're rushed, it's possible to see Boudnath, Pashupatinath, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambunath on one day. You'll take a taxi early in the morning (recommended...) to Pashupatinath and afterwards you can walk to Boudnath (only 30 min I guess). After a Tibetan lunch you head back to Kathmandu to visit Durbar Square and Swayambunath (on foot!).
The next day you can visit Baktapur and Patan, easily.

And if I could give you an advice, 4 days in Pokhara is too much. Over the last years, it has become too commercialized, and that's a pity... A lot of nature has disappeared to build hotels and restaurants, even on lakeside...

That sounds like a great plan. Go for it! Yes you can do all of Kathmandu in one day if your rushed. Enjoy.

Hey,

Sounds like you;ve got it all planned out, and its possible to fit loads in a day in Kathmandu so dont worry.
Just be aware of all the entry fees, Swaymbuth- 200rps, bhoddha- 200rps, pashupati- 500rps, ktm durbar suare and patan durbar square - 200 rps, bhaktapur durbar square - $10

Also i know you only have a short time, but have you thought about any rafting? It really is a highlight of nepal

As for you trekking, you've picked the best trek for such a short time in my opinion. I got back from this trek about a week ago and we have a great time,
We went from nayapul to Ullerie,
Ullerie to Gorepani
up for sunrise at poon hill, then onto tadapani
tadapani to jhuri for the natural hot springs
and then back down to nayapul the next day.

if you want any recommendations for guest houses let me know.

Im currently living in nepal, so if you would like any more info just send me a private message!

enjoy your time!
