Hello,

Just wondered if anyone could give me advice on the nicest cheaper hotels/places to stay in Thailand. We arrive in Bangkok in April and wanrt to spend a few days there, but then go out to different islands......

any advice would be much appreciated... we are there for two months, so don't want to go crazy and spend loads on hotels!!

Thanks very much

Katie

In Bangkok head stay in Khao San Road and you'll find loads of cheap hotels. I usually stay on the street behind (Soi Rambuttri) which is cheaper again, and also a bit more chilled out, but still only two minutes away from all the action. The last time I was in Bangkok I think I paid 180 baht for a basic fan room.

Which islands are you going to? In Koh Phi Phi the cheapest place to stay is The Rock Backpackers which is 250 Baht per night for a dorm bed. Or if you want your own room, then opposite The Rock there are quite a few guest houses charging 500-600 Baht per night for a fan room.
