This poster is just trying to wind you/us up (it's the same person every time, and might even be a disgruntled member from years gone by). The best thing to do here is just ignore them....

I don't think it's an offensive question, it's just different.

it aint offensive, since its like your making a joke about other people, but you started by making a joke about yourself.
But he could have phrased it different, because it won't be a shocker if some people will be offended or pretend to be offended.

Anyway, the so called filth gives CHARACTER to a city or country. People who say India is filthy and dirty, I don't know they went there in the first place. India does not claim to be a 1st world nation, and while its economy is booming it is a subcontinent, and so there will always be places where the 3rd world look will exist, and thank God.

Indian food on trays and inside those glass thingy look a bit disgusting. I'm sure its taste good, but the silver trays where they put the curry is a major turn off.

Anyway, Asia is definitely not for you!

sorry i just think this person is extremely naive and closed minded towards the "world"...i dont find it offensive what he/she says,i find it quite sad though that some people think like this...reminds me of many people here where im from,we call it "small town mentality!!!"....

I've done quite a lot of Asia and every country I have visited has had it's clean and dirty parts, the same as in Europe, America, Africa and Oceana.
If you're scared of dirty, then I suggest avoiding suburbs of very big cities, that aren't on the tourist trail.
However, I've visited such places and the people were lovely. Dirty doesn't have to be bad.
Potatoes are dirty, but still have a great inside. If you get my drift.

if your looking for somewhere clean, why not go plonk yourself in singapore for a few months..however you might get a little bored after a day or two...

i remember been sat in singapore airport and watching a group of local workers trying to get a sticker off a bin, they spent a good couple of hours doing so,then once they had removed the sticker proceeded to polish the bin...cleanliness to an obsessive level but like i say you might get a little bit bored after a few days!!

Not all parts of Singapore is like that.
The Singapore Changi Airport has to be top-notch... First impression is important.

yatina....

apoligies if caused any offence, however i think it is only a good thing that changi airport is so imaculate and clean,id say probably the best airport in the world, and as for singapore airlines well, the women were beautifull, first class service and i got to fly on the new airbus a380 so all in all was a great experience but as far as being backpacker goes i found singapore very much like being in a european capital city, very up and coming and business orientated, lots of banks, high rise buildings and business's..doesnt really cater for the backpacker like thailand but has many other plus points!!!
