I'm planning a trip to Java and am looking for some help.

I plan to fly into Yogyakarta from Singapore and then eventually make my way to Bali. I'll have 7-9 days to make it from Yogya to Bali. I'll be in Indonesia in late May/early June.

Besides Borobudur and Mt. Bromo what else would you recommend?

Any and all recommendations are appreciated!

Prambanan temple complex is also worth visiting; it's easy to arrange as a day trip from Yokyakarta. You can also see a performance of the Ramayana ballet at the Prambanan temple complex.

I spent one night at Seloliman nature reserve which was beautiful, so I'd recommend it if you can get there. I went as part of an organised tour so not sure how easy it is to get there if you are travelling independently.

Prambanan is a good suggestion. Allthough a lot is damaged by an earthquake not to long ago.
Dont forget the south coast: go to some of the not to wellknown beaches. It is not very far from Jogya and fun to see, espacially on the weekends. There are several of these bays all along the coast to Pacitan
You will find 7 days a good period to take it slowly and get to see details.

Hi Alan,

Dieng Plateau in Central Java is worth a visit too.
How do u plan to travel down to Bali from Yogyakarta?

I just came back from a 5-day trip in Yogyakarta.
I went to Borobudur temple, Prambanan temple, the Kraton, Parangtritis beach, spent about 4 hours at a spa and paid only S$50 for the works, and spent lots on batik.

I have a contact for a driver in Yogyakarta if u like and I believe that he could drive u all the way to Bali.
I believe with a driver it can save u a lot of hassle.

Happy travels,
cheers.. yatina
