OMG i didn't realise you needed to book so soon, i knew it would be popular but this was unexpected for me!

I am working my way down the east cost from September to Sydney and planning on staying there until Feb. What do travellers normally do when they plan to stay in a particluar place for some time, find a hostel and stay put or move around? Is it possible to book into a hostel for a long period of time? x

Hi Guys,

I have just emailed Keith at Lane Cove camping Sydney with regards to new year and seeing if he is keen to support another travellerspoint meet!

I am looking forward to his response and will pass on the info as soon as I get!

Can't wait

Book early but be prepared to book for 7-10 days. We booked in June 09 for Xmas and New Years and we were limited to where we could book, we ended up booking 790 on George Street Hostel which was dirty and small. The YHA next door and Wake Up round the corner are much better options. I would also recommend the new YHA near the Rocks - they held a party on the roof for residence on new years eve.

Not sure what your plans are for new years eve but well worth saving and going on a boat trip to watch the fireworks. We booked a boat call the Glasshouse and it was not overcrowed (like a lot of the boats are) the food was fantastic and as it was part of the light parade we had front row seats for the fireworks! such an experience!
