Depends on where you are going. Generally, anytime is good except for the middle of summer.

Daytime summertime temperatures in Phoenix and Tucson hit 115 degrees fareinheit. However, it's cooler the farther north you go. I've actually driven through Arizona on a summer day when it was 100 near Prescott, but snowing when I arrived that evening in Flagstaff.

The top places to go in Arizona are the Grand Canyon (of course), Monument Valley on the Utah State line, Lake Powell, also on the Utah state line, Sedona (beautiful red rock canyons), Boulder Dam (on the border with Nevada--just a few miles from Las Vegas), and the Painted Desert in the eastern part of the state. Also interesting are Scottsdale and Fountain Hills, and Old Tucson (a western town outside of the current Tucson).

Parker and Lake Havasu (on the California border) are big places to go during Spring Break, the Memorial Day holiday, and Labor Day holidays.

Enjoy.
