Hi all,

Well, seeing as some members are beating me to it asking about who won the prize (thanks James!), I had better get my act together and post the happy news!

The prize trip to Dubai was won by....

Ionela Ciuhrii, a 29 year old female consultant from the Republic of Moldova!

Thrilled to have won this prize, Ionela's first words were “Thank you for a wonderful surprise! I never expected to win this trip to Dubai...”

We wish Ionela a wonderful trip to Dubai, truly one of the worlds most amazing travel destinations and thank all of the members and users of Travellerspoint who participated in this survey as well as the sponsors for making such an amazing prize possible.

Better luck to all of you who didn't win next time! (that includes me ) We'll be working on a new big prize trip or maybe several smaller ones in 2005 for all of you out there!

Sam

What did Ionela win?

  • An economy class flight to Dubai from any KLM serviced point in the world, via Amsterdam to Dubai.
  • 7 nights at the 5-star Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa, a member of 'The Leading Hotels of the World' and part of Jebel Ali International Hotels, featuring its own golf course, over 13 restaurants and bars, a shooting club, horse riding stables, spa, and various other wet and dry sports facilities.

Congratulations to Ionela, the winner, and I hope she enjoys the experience, taking back treasured memories to Moldovia.
Thanks to you Sam for master-minding the whole things, at this time of the year it fits right with the Spirit of Goodwill.

I have to admit it wasn't entirely my idea, a lot of credit should go to the researcher who wanted to use Travellerspoint to get his research results...

Hopefully we'll be able to come up with something grand next year too!

Cheers,

Sam

Hi all,
When you heard that I won this trip, would you imagine KLM only sponsored the flight to Dubai and not a round trip? I thought that's weird. Do they think I will stay there? :)

Hey? I didn't know that! Sam, did you have any idea? That would be really cheap of them!!

Hi All,
This is not like the KLM I've known and used for many years, seems like someone slipped up badly in their Marketing Dept. Now we are all waiting to see how they get out of that one....and recover some prestige.

Sounds very dodgy i must admit, but if you look at Sam's original note

What did Ionela win?

An economy class flight to Dubai from any KLM serviced point in the world, via Amsterdam to Dubai.

7 nights at the 5-star Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa, a member of 'The Leading Hotels of the World' and part of Jebel Ali International Hotels, featuring its own golf course, over 13 restaurants and bars, a shooting club, horse riding stables, spa, and various other wet and dry sports facilities.

Now that Ionela has said as much, it is very noticeable that the flight info shown does only mention oneway. In any competiotion etc you see like this, it always specified return flights/travel, so perhaps it is deliberate for whatever reason. Very odd though!
