Just wondering if somebody can put my mind at ease about how employers in Oz and NZ feel about backpackers who are looking for work having visible tattoos (arm’s and leg’s only!!)
Im planning on travelling Oz and NZ for 8 months later this year and im hoping to pick up some casual bar work or farm work or something to top up my funds and im getting a little anxious that I won’t be able to get any work cos I’ve got tatts on my arms and legs!!
Should I just chillax or should I stock up on long sleeve shirts and long trousers?
It really depends on the venue, some will probably be fine but as a rule of thumb I would definitely bring clothes that you could easily cover them. I wouldn't call Australia a conservative country but you might be surprised at how often pubs & clubs will not allow visible tattoos, so I imagine working there would be similar.
Not sure about oz but New Zealand is one of the most tattooed countries in the world, it's part of the culture I wouldn't worry anymore about it here than you would anywhere else.
Cheers for the post guys, ye have my put my mind at ease a little now
I think ill just pack one or two long sleeve shirts and just take it as it comes
