obviously the great barrier reef is an awesome place to scuba dive, but i've done that! where do people consider as good or better? what is that dream place where scuba diving is memorable, as I want to go again!!!!

Hmm, as someone who has only just gotten their license I can only speak on behalf of two dive locations... Mauritius and Bali. Both are excellent with great visibility, I personally thought the coral was much more colorful in Bali but that there were a lot more fish on the Mauritius.

I have a friend who has done a lot of diving off Curacao and claims it's one of the best places in the world, if not the best....

Depends what you want to see? rust, reef, cold water or caves?

Rust (wrecks): you can't go past Tulagi in the solomon islands. A multitude of wrecks from the WW2 battle of the pacific. Friendly people, excellent seafood and professional diving. I can personally recommend Tulagi Dive. Neil is an excellent operator.
You could also try bikini atoll see above, but just a little harder to get to and quite exxy!

Reef: The red sea from all accounts. I have not been there but a few people who's evaluations I trust rate it most highly.

Cold water: Antarctica. say no more

Caves: Mexico or Tonga.

I was going to suggest the Solomon Islands too... haven't been there in 20 years, but it's beautiful..... we just did the resort course...and did some dives around Eupi Island....

The only thing with the Solomons is that it's generally not regarded as the safest place in the world just now... although the Australian police force is making a difference there, an Australian policeman was killed there just before Christmas.

But for wreck diving it really is sublime and I think there are a few operators who have started back up there in the past two years who would be more than happy to have you.

Aparently one of them even uses this old boat that we used to use to get out to the outer islands on. Can't wait to go back sometime!

I've never actually gone on a dive but I've heard plenty about Belize being a really nice locale for divers. But I claim no knowledge on the subject!

I've been to the Turks and Caicos and the diving was outstanding!
