This is for the admins of travellerspoint, I was wondering why neither the "Petra, Jordan" nor "Wadi Musa, Jordan" options are available in the Location box when uploading photos?
You'd think it would be there considering Petra is now one of the "New Seven Wonders of the World".
The reason they're not there at the moment is because the only locations which are there at the moment are the ~2 million cities from a database we used as our source (with the original intent being to only put these on the travel maps; the photo location interface came later), plus a handful of famous places which were added manually when we were pointed to their lack.
If you go to your travel map, you can select the photo and enter coordinates for it manually, naming it Petra, thus creating a new location in our database which from then on will be available to you.
The maps are up for a revamp in the near future, and I'm not certain if that will change or extend that location database in any way; if not, I'm sure Sam or Peter would be willing to add this location to the globally available list, too.
Lat/Lon for Petra according to wikipedia: 30.328611, 35.441944

This is definitely one of the things set to change in the redevelopment that's going on right now 'behind the scenes'. We'll be opening for beta testing very soon and fingers crossed, this update should hit Travellerspoint within a few weeks. One of the reasons for all the work was just that the current solution wasn't very scalable, and our database of locations got old quickly. This fixes that (although I found out earlier this week that Google maps puts Petra, Jordan in the wrong place; they only recognize Wadi Musa).
Sorry about this, but the good news is, it's being worked on (this whole redevelopment is the only thing on our plates at the moment, so progress is good)!
Thanks guys, good to hear some changes are coming that will fix this.
I have now added a new destination on my map using the coordinates Sander provided and then mapped my photos to it.
