I would like to travel straight to Vietnam when i arrive in Bangkok so i can use my Thailand visa at a later date and i was wondering what's the best way to do this?
I have looked at flights and they are about £100 single, is that reasonable? I arrive at approx 2200 and the flights that i looked at seem to be early on in the day so i would have to stay in a hotel for a night if i do decide to fly.
I flew into BKK around midnight and flew to HAN at 9am. This was several years ago, but your choices are the same. Try to find a cheap hotel/GH or stay at the airport. I chose to just stay at the airport and tough it out. I was the last one off the plane, then over to the transit lounge. Found a quiet piece of carpet and tried to sleep. Tough night, but got up at 5am, cleaned up and read my book until I could board my flight to HAN. Here is a guide to sleeping in airports. This article may also help with your decision.
Another option is to get a taxi over to a cheap hotel close to the airport and 5-7 hours sleep. Back to Suvarnabhumi in time for your flight to VN. DO NOT put down your visa number and issue date on your entry card. Accept the free 30 day entry permit and save your tourist visa for when you return to BKK. Most of the hotels close to Suvarnabhumi offer free transport to their hotel and back.
Air Asia flies BKK-HAN & BKK-SGN. With advanced purchase, one way is about $60, taxes included. Good luck with your planning.
Thanks for the advice - that's great! I found a cheap flight and I'm going to stay in the airport overnight.
