Hey everyone

This will be my first time to europe and therefore my first time experiencing a real winter. I'm from Australia and our winters by comparison are quite warm. Wondering if there are any seasoned travlers out there, or people from the european area that could suggest some essentials to survive a winter up there.

cheers Aaron.

Where in Europe, and exactly when would you be there?

Like post#2 says, whereabouts in Europe? In Southern Spain and Greece during the winter it's possible to swim in the sea on Christmas day, same as in Australia. However, in Ukraine and Norway it can get down to in excess of below -30c.
Big place - Europe, much larger than Australia.

I think pretty much anywhere in Europe over winter you're gonna need waterproofs, scarf, gloves and maybe a hat. Colder parts of Europe you'll probably want more than this, like additional layers of thermals, warm shoes/boots etc. Have fun!

Alternatively do what I did and buy a good coat :)

Hi Tappy - I am from Australia and my suggestion is don't take winter clothes from home - buy basic when you arrive cause we just don't have the warmth in our clothing went to Canada in the winter and threw all our clothes out and bought local and survived - good warm clothes are also cheaper including good winter jackets even the jeans are thicker
have a great time -
