D.R.Congo Insurance

Travel Forums General Talk D.R.Congo Insurance

Hi travellers

I'm travelling to D.R.Congo in June and need travel insurance.

Most insurers state: "You will not be covered if you choose to travel to a country or specific area or event against the advice issued by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office."

Unfortunately the FCO advise against all travel except essential travel, therefore i'm finding most policies will not cover my risk.

Do any of you have experience travelling to places of this sort, or do you know of any all-risk travel insurers, without any geographical restrictions?

Many thanks in advance
Ben

NB. It is essential I go on this trip, so please don't try and persuade me not to.

Seen that you state your trip is essential, I suspect you're on some 'official' business in the area? In that case, the organisation on whose behalf you're going will be able to help you with the insurance issue.

A few months ago I was talking to an insurance underwriter (ihi bupa) as part of a contract renegotiation for another company, and they said (then) they would insure travellers heading to war zones, so they might work for you. I have no idea what kind of price it has by the way.

Thanks Sam, that's the only insurance company I've found who will cover me. However, the cover comes at a premium - as you'd expect.

It's £180 for a 20 day policy, £6 a day.

I was hoping there were others! lol
