That's outrageous!

It actually happened to a mate of mine in Amsterdam; he escaped through the sunroof of "her" car, and he lost his shoes in the process.

That's reality !!!

Quoting tway

What I miss, though, is having someone to reminisce with once I get home. Any conversation I start with "When I was in Paris" gets met with half-hidden rolled eyes...

I totally agree with that. Although that is really the only con I have encountered. I usually travel with my best friend when I travel with someone and we have the exact same ideas on what to see, well mostly anyway.

There's some great points here!

I've travelled with friends and by myself and in the end I prefer by myself.
The main problem with friends is getting organised/planned for the day. But as said above, sharing an experiance can be great for reminising.

The one thing that makes me prefer solo travel is not pissing off my friends. I have a habit of wondering off, talking/spending time with interesting people i've met along the way, and making my friends worry about me because i've disappeared for a night.

I've never had to climb out of a sunroof to get tho. :)

haha! god i worry people-i do tend to ermm...not kinda let people know exactly what my plans are-oh it just reminded me of something!

The more i hear from people saying that travelling solo is so much better the more i really WILL do it!

I'm assuming that you must get so much more out of it-confidence wise and you must find out more about yourself-as you only have yourself to rely on, eh!

One more point that is worth its weight in gold. Acctually, does information you get off the net weight anything? (There's a good topic to share with travellers!)

In the link that Wocca Posted there's a point about "Sporting a Conversation Piece"!. This is an excellent idea! The last few times i've been travelling I normally wear a hat that only has the number 12 on it. Without fail, before I can normally start a conversation someone will ask me what the 12 means.
When I meet someone new I normally look for something to make a comment on which works well in starting conversation.

what does the 12 mean?

oh, i'm having a giggle at some of the posts today!

I suppose as long as the person responds with a bit of enthusiasm/interest then your well on your way to start up a great conversation!
