I've been trying to book a train journey from Ljubljana to Venice, for me and my 4 friends on the 7th July.... however, i'm having a LOT of problems.
I've found one train site that allows me to get so far as to enter my preferred ticket collection method..but, e-ticket option is greyed-out, collecting the tickets at a machine at the train station is availible, yet it says a ticket machine is not at Ljubljana station, leaving Home Delivery as the only option. This is fine, however, it says you can only be in italy for this option.. so there is NO way of booking the tickets!!
And when i go on any other sites, there is just no option to book tickets, just to view timetables/it can't find any trains 'that match the criteria'.
Can anyone please help!? It's driving me crazy!!!
What train is this? Is this a nighttrain? Is reservation mandatory? Do you just need the tickets or do you need a reservation too?
I suggest you simply buy the tickets as soon as you are in Slovenia. You should be able to do this at every train station. If you do this a few days in advance even reservation for the night train shouldn't be a problem.
If you've already tried DB BAHN.... http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/d, and THAT won't work (and I would be DAMNED SURPRISED) then go down the day before and buy a ticket. This ain't Latin America, my friend. Trains run on time here. And are ubiquitous. You'll be fine fine, more than fine. And stop sweating it. This is the land of trains.
And Slovenia is my choice for the most underrated place in Europe.
