I notice one thing. It seems to be a matter of "being used to." Canadian people say "Canada," European would say somewhere in Europe, while others seem to want to be at the spot that has similar climate to where they are at the moment.

I've been to 16-17 countries. I found one thing inside me. The most important element that can make my stays turn out to be hassle or pleasure is 'people.' I mean local people which usually represent the image of "host."

I could definitely see myself living on the coast of Ireland with sheeps. I think it's the most beautiful and peaceful place in the world.

I think I would love to go back to Peru some day. It is a beautiful country but if I can move all my friends and family with me somewhere, then we would all be in the US Virgin Islands.

New Zealand. It's a great place and there aren't any deadly insects/animals. The weather is mild most of the time. People are friendly and the place is beautiful. I would like to buy a lifestyle block near where I grew up and retire there in 30 or so years.

I'd have to say the country I am currently living in---Japan. This place is absolutely amazing, and the people here are so nice and peaceful. There are also so many beautiful contrasts in regards to traditional vs. modern, I'm never bored here. I will be so sad when I leave here.

Which country do you think would be the best one for you to live in ?

Why?

W, I am finding the old threads...running out of topics on current ones. Anyway, I havent seen everything I want to see yet so I wouldnt know which country I would prefer but so far I would have to say, I would settle back in Peru probably.

Why?, because there is so much work to do there...the Peace Corps is back in Peru since they were eradicated by the terrorists in the early 90s. I would join them and make my dreams come true...

I'm like you, Anne - finding old threads of interest. But, also in not having found the right place to live in yet. Until we're done looking - or the perfect place just magically appears before our eyes - I have no answer.
