This thread is marked as being about Brazil

I'm an italian photographer and I like to spend 20 days in Brazil next august.
This is my 2nd trip in Brazil, and I want to spend almost 5 days in Amazonia and the remaining in the north from Sao Luis and Fortaleza.
I need some help about Amazonia, where i want to take pictures about nature, animals and tribes. In short, if somebody can give me indications about:

-is a good idea to base in Manaus? or is it better other place
-weather (last week in july or 2nd in August is better?)
-accommodation? ( I found only very touristic and expensive lodge around Manaus) how can I find informations to get it
-how to move around?
-Is it necessary some special preventive therapy for mosquitos ?
-haw is it safe?
-there is a good agency in Manaus where to drive my needs

I thank a lot everyone can give me help.

Hello Majo,
Amazon these times (august) is the hottest weather of the year, be prepared with sun block, you have to prevent yourself against Malaria and Yellow Fever, Its not comum to take that deceases but I think It will be required.
If you arrive in Manaus. Manaus is a large city, the interestingness is the food (tambaqui, tucunaré fish, and others and the fruits, like Cupuassu (how a mousse) and the breakfast houses. The tribes (if iT yet exist) you could find in protection areas, far from the civlization ant will need authorization of the governor.
Where to stay best to stay in Tropical Hotel in the Ponta Negra district, near airport but far from the center of the city. If you want you could be at the center, there are historical building of the rubber era (1700). Nice.
here a good hotel:
and lists:

To move around to enter the forest there are excursions going out near Pontanegra, sincerely, I dont know how to book, but heck out here

hugs Andrea
