I think the world needs to impose heavy sanctions against Israel at this point in time, and the USA needs to immediately cease all aid to that nation. I've had it up to here, personally. Read the latest from the Voice of America, but there's much more info at the BBC.
Personally, I think the billions in foreign aid we Americans have been giving to Tel Aviv should now go to Gaza.

I had not read much about the Gaza blockade, but you can bet your bank account that the aid the US sends to Israel is not going to be redirected to Muslims in Gaza.
Hiya, as an Aussie I like to blame the British, because they are usually responsible for most of our ills throughout history. So in this case I sight the failing of the British to enact the 1948 British Mandate for Palestine. In terms of foreign aid, the manipulation of countries through this aid has become an increasing problem and should be looked at more seriously in the future. At the end of the day, those that make the bed, must be prepared to lay in it!
From somebody who knows a bit about the area:
If you want to help the people in the Gaza strip long-term your best course of action is to cut down on your personal use of oil and energy.
The USA is an oil junkie and all of its foreign policy in the Middle East is centered around the steady supply of its drug. The billions of US-Dollars that Israel recieves in aid are part of this.
So while it is all fine and nice to get your knickers in a twist about how Israel is treating the Palestinians all your petitions and protests won't change US foreign politics one iota. What will change US foreign policy is the following.
- on every distance that is less than 1 mile walk instead of driving the car
- on every distance that is less than 10 miles ride a bicycle or similar (electric scooter) instead of driving the car
- walk up the stairs instead of using the elevator
- always switch off the lights
- when you go to walmart bring cotton shopping bags, refuse plastic bags
- if you own a house have it insulated against cold and heat
- avoid using the air con
- install solar panels on your roof
- fix the heating in your house so that it is energy efficient
- if you plan on building a new house make sure it is a passive house
- if there is a patch of soil nearby use it to grow your own vegetables (lawn=bad, courgettes=good)
The list goes on, but you get the drift.
Of course you can also write petitions and protest notes, I am sure they won't hurt. But you can do more, you can be the change. Just as Michael Jackson used to sing: "I am starting with the man in the mirror...."

Just another ongoing argument that has no meaning or end in sight.
I like to blame the British, because they are usually responsible for most of our ills throughout history.
The obvious benefit with being able to blame the British for all the world's problems is the knowledge that no incensed axe-wielding Somali Londoner will come knocking at your door on January 1st wanting to wish you a Happy New Year Head-Lopping.
This becoming very bitter and personal, isn't it.
Israel has every right to blockade where ever it wants. because israel is untouchable they can even raid the ships in international waters. they can even shoot to kill people who threw food plates to them. israel is fuelled up by western christian countries' permission to stay out of europe and do whatever they want to arabs.
