Myself and my girlfriend are flying to Vietnam for 1 month, How much do you think we can budget ourselfs to? We have set a limit of $2000 Australian Dollars each. We dont want to spend too much as were flying back to Australia to see out the rest of the year. We will want to do some tours and see all the nice places like Halong Bay etc...
Any help and advice will be much appreciated.
I spent about $1K USD during my month in VN. Stayed mostly in fan rooms, but upgraded to a/c rooms in Nha Trang, Mui Ne and HCMC. I would 'eat street' or in low end restaurants. Used the open tour bus system and took many tours. $2K AUD should be plenty for your month in VN.

You will really have trouble spending 2k in Vietnam. I travel solo and spend USD50. a day on average. The inexpensive hotels and guesthouses are quite nice and much more personal than the big fancy hotels. Actually, I often spend more on restaurants than my rooms. If you're traveling this summer, I would imagine prices to be quite low. I'll be back in Nov myself (first time in high season), but expect those $20. rooms to be priced about $25. at that time.
