I am hoping that someone out there can give me a bit of advice!!
I have insulin dependant diabetes but am in good health and planning on jetting Round the World late next year. I am pretty much organised with the travelling side of things, only I am planning on doing a few activities such as white water rafting and scuba diving. I am just wondering has anyone done any of these activities that is diabetic and/or travelled to foreign countries with diabetes? Also does anyone know of any good sources, books or websites that could help me? I am planning on visiting South America, Asia and Australia along with a few other countries. Any advice whatsoever is greatly appreciated!!
Hi. Dont have any advice personally but came across this website link. should be helpful to you! see ya.
Cheers for that - the site link is very helpful!!
I am planning on backpacking Europe for 6 months and I have found it really hard to find information out as well. I was concerned with keeping my insulin cold but then I found this site http://www.friouk.com/
It seems like the easiest way to do that.
In previous trips I have white water rafted and I scuba at home and while I travel. My only suggestion for the rafting is take glucose tabs with you. You will use a lot more energy than you expect.
If I think of anything else or find anythign I will let you know. Hope you have a safe and amazing trip.
Aah well I'm best to stock up on carbohydrates before rafting then I guess. Thanks for the advice and those frio's look pretty handy too.
