Virtually impossible even. Which poses a question I have about not having a permanent address. Can it be done?

What I meant is yes, it's virtually impossible to get by without a card nowadays and how does a full-time traveler get by without a permanent address? I'm talking bank accounts, N.I. payments, etc. Though it's probably a question best directed to an ex-pats forum or HMRC, but any pointers welcome. Sorry for the lack of clarity.

Im quite a regular in Eastern Europe - and police road blocks are mad everywhere. Ive been stopped and shown them my NI card instead of a UK driving licence. They didnt have a clue. Just said OK and gave it back.

In my opinion definately not worth the hassle!

I didn't encounter any problems with them until someone fraudulently gained access to my account and spent over $500! I was told at the time all I had to do was fill in a fraud claims report and I would get the money back. After I did this I rang back asking what was going on to which there response was that they couldn't do anything for 45 days because it was out of their hands which I thought was fair enough. Now well after the 45 day period they are telling me they are only just starting the investigation and that there is a very strong chance I won't get the money back! The worst part is I ring them at least 2-3 times a day with a promise of a call back and surprise surprise they never call back, or there systems are down! The worst part is it costs over £3 a minute for each call!

If you don't mind me asking, how did someone get access to your account? I did notice a weak spot where any text message used to 'load' or check an account balance holds a pin number, so needs deleting each time.

How did some one gain access to your account? I'm sorry to hear about that, but if you had cash - you certainly wouldnt be able to claim that back and if you used your bank card then you would be facing the same lengthy process I'm afraid.

I was also a bit suspicious when I applyed for my caxton fx card, but i made the application for it on christmas last year and i have not had any sort of problems with the card, nor with the account. its a safe card. in fact they have always been really friendly to me.
