Hi all

I've just returned from a gap year that included Asia and i will definitely be going back! Bangkok is fantastic and the islands (Koh Tao and Koh Phangan specifically) were fantastic!

A few tips for you all though:

- have good travel insurance if you plan to hire a bike (check what cc of bike it will cover & hire accordingly)
- book trains well in advance, especially if heading North overnight
- take PLENTY of insect repellent :)

Before I left I looked for ages to find a decent journal to write about my travel and my mum managed to find me one from! I'm loving looking back at all of my memories!! I bought one for my friend and even got a 20% discount after 'liking' them on Facebook!! It sounds like I'm selling, but really I'm just recommending. I wish I could go away and fill it up again!!

Happy travelling :)

Mmm, I would personally go for NEVER renting a bike or any 2 wheeler in asia.
The very likely crashes are pretty annoying when it comes to deinfection and keeping it sterile. When its healed its still annoying since the young skin is very easily sunburnt.

Every year I see so many young ppl with bandages all over... I even once met an Italian with his footh swollen like a big football and mades crawling around in the wound (volleybal accident on a beach by hitting his footh slightly against a rock.. after the accident, it was not cleansed well resulting in a heavy infection and necrosis when hiking in Taman Negara).
