Hello Mallo,
Lets go to parts. First, Buenos Aires is the capitol of Argentina, another country in the south america.

So, Rio de Janeiro, Natal and cities with waterfalls, great places. If you enter in google maps, you will see that Rio is very very far from Natal. Brasil is a big continental country and that intinerary rio-natal you probably have to do by plane, because forshore the way lasts 3 days by bus and 3 hours by plane.

Rio de Janeiro, if you stay in the city, stay at south downtown, like Leme, Copacabana, Botafogo ans Santa Teresa. You coul meet the Barra Beach wich is cleaner than others. I love Rio de janeiro, but its a urban tourism, with cars, people and bandits, take care of you and dont make face of pure soul there.

Natal - wonderful beach to know, stay in Pipa beach, there are many foreigners there from Europe and other places, you will be good received, and enjoy the nature and the beauty of Northeast.

I live near a region with marvelous waterfalls, Chapada dos Veadeiros, there are a little city, Alto Paraiso, that is near of a district, Sao Jorge. There you could see what is a land with a lovely nature, full of water, stunning nature, I love very much. A little more far from Alto Paraiso, but relatively near you could find Cavalcante, another city comtemplated with that caractheristics of high relief, waterfalls and savage dry vegetation. There is the place with more conservation, the water is blue, like Santa Barbara Waterfall.

Thank you so much, that is very helpful. Our son is on exchange in Brazil so we thought we would take a month off and travel parts of Brazil a bit before all meeting in Natal for 9 days. We are flying to Natal and the other places I mentioned. Your information was great. It would be great to have some local knowledge, even a local guide would be great.

We have just returned from a holiday in Brazil and we loved Rio, even though we were warned about the dangers. We stayed at Copacabana Beach - a lovely spot with lots of atmosphere. There were many police in the area though, outside of our hotel and even riding sand buggies on the beach.
We were advised to dress down - no jewelry of any kind and no expensive clothing either. It is probably best to look as inconspicuous as possible. Consequently we had no problems. Passports, credit cards etc. are best left in the safe supplied by the hotel. I must admit to being seriously concerned about going to Rio before we left, but it turned out to be one of my favourite cities of South America. Its just about being careful.
Iguazu Falls is a must - my second favourite place after Rio.....and if you have time please go to the Bird Park there. It is fabulous.
