Myself and two friends are currently planning our round the world trip starting in April 2011. Our route is as follows:
UK-BEIJING//SINGAPORE-CAIRNS//MELBOURNE-FIJI-CHRISTCHURCH//AUCKLAND-SANTIAGO//QUITO-LA//SAN FRANSISCO-NEW YORK- UK
We have contacted a few companies and the cheapest quote we could get was £2034.00 including all taxes. However, this does not include the flight from San Fransisco to New York which will be booked at a later date.
Through your experience does this seem pretty reasonable? I would obviously like it to be cheaper than that but when you take into consideration the amount of flights and the distance covered it doesn't seem too bad.
Just looking for a second opion really.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
This seems pretty cheap to me as we are looking at a similar route but without north america and a few extra internal flights and the cheapest we have found is £2600.
A few good deals i have found are, round the experts 7 stops deal which allows 7 flights and comes in around £1500 (or did for us) you could then maybe book some of your flights with low cost carriers such as singapor to cairns with tiger or air asia.
The one we are looking at is with BA one world which is great if you want several flights within a continent.
Who is you're best quote from? let me know how it goes!!
Thanks for the reply. The quote was from Travel Nation. It was the cheapest by quite a distance as well.
We have pretty much decided just to book it now as I think we will struggle to get it much cheaper. Would rather have the booking secured as well so I definitely know the trip is going ahead.
When are you heading off? I really can't wait to go. Got alot of saving to do first though which is something I have never been very good at.
