...Following a very Caribbean-style celebration on Bonaire, taking time to refill the rum barrels and replacing the tattered sails with the new specially designed really colorful ones from Marlis' Sail Shop, the Captain and crew set the GPS for their next port of call...
"Captain, we're suppose to be pirates. Aren't these sails a bit too... Well... Pretty? I mean, they are definitely unique. Not many ships sport sails with palm trees, beach, shells and flamingoes on them. We just think it may send the wrong message." "And, what message would that be, Matey?" "Well Captain, the message that we're not really rough and tough pirates. That's all. Other pirate ships won't take us seriously." "HA! I say HA! Only the fiercest pirates on the high seas would have the guts to sail under palm trees and flamingoes!" "Okay Captain, if you say so. We'll just take up our battle stations in case you're a wee bit mistaken."
With that, the crew once again tries to figure out the GPS, opts for using the 1786 maps from the dreaded map room and then assumes their stations in case a dolphin or whale decides to attack. Disappointed that they were unable to prove the Captain wrong in her assessment of pretty = fierce, as neither a dolphin or whale or even another pirate ship were spotted along the voyage, the mateys now prepare to enter the River Liffey and dock behind the cruise ship.
"Captain, does the birthday boy know we're showing up?" "Not sure, Matey, but something tells me he does. Let's just say I've had a vision and he will be making an appearance. If not, he'd better take care. I'm not opposed to throwing the bones and deciding his fate. Maybe he'll have to eat nothing ham for a full week..." "I thought he'd given up ham, Captain." "He has." "Oh, gotcha - it's punishment."
As the Captain and crew head off to find the birthday boy hiding somewhere in the parks and forests around Dublin, they do... Oh, you know what they do. They do it in every birthday thread. (This time, they had to bring along their musical instruments since there are no real lyrics involved.)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PHILLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's hoping you are having a wonderful day (July 17th) filled with friends, food, a scotch or four or even ten and lots of love from Daisy.
...As the crew continues marching through the streets of Dublin in search of the birthday boy, Captain Isa heads off to find Doyles (aka Foleys or vise versa) for some of the black stuff.
