Italy - 7 to 17 Aug - Suggested Itinerary please?

Hi everyone, I will be spending some time (7 - 17 Aug) in Italy on my own. As this is my first in the country, can you please suggest an itinerary as well as the mode of travel and accomodation? I will be on a tight budget, but still hope to cover some of the major cities like Venice, Florence and Rome. I will be coming in from Munich, and exiting to Salzburg. Appreciate all the help I can get in planning this. Wonder whether anyone will be there around the same time as well.

within Italy you can use train i think it will be better. Only problem is that you will find a lot of people moving from north to south during that period.
I don't know what are you looking for, but here some ideas:
1) milano (or como) - 5terre - firenze - verona - venezia
2) milano (or como) - firenze - ferrara - bologna - mantova - verona - venezia
3) milano - firenze - roma - venezia
