I'm going NZ first but will be in Melbourne from the 18th and in Sydney for the 22nd Dec. Heading up the East Coast after New Years.
I'll be staying at the Wake Up hostel but i'm sure you'll meet loads of peeps to go out for Xmas and New Years!!!
Hopefully see you over there
I'm just looking at booking a hostel now, figure I should probably get something sorted for that time of year.
I just realised when I replied to this thread it was actually for people heading off the end of last year, but I guess you are like me and heading off this year?!!
I'll have a look at that wake up hostel, the ones I am looking at are expensive!!
are you travelling alone?
Hi Holly - I was just perusing the Forum & found your travel story - We live in Queensland and want to travel back to England - have been there once 3 years ago but decided to avoid the Olympics next year and maybe go the year after all being well. What made you come out to Australia? If you have any questions about the Sunshine Coast or parts of Queensland we may be able to help - we were born and bred in Queensland - lived here for 40 years. Happy Travelling! Steve & Jenny
[ Edit: Sorry, no personal details please. ]
Hey am Guna Sydney 30th November for a year working holiday booked with ultimate oz for first week. 24 from south Yorkshire
Hi, my names Danni and im 22 from London. I am planning to travel to Aus beginning of August. I am meeting 2 of my friends out there, but have no plans from there really. Im really nervous 2 as intially will be travelling on my own and i keep changing my mind in when and where i want to go.
As a heads up I have applied for a holiday working visa as i plan to work in aus and to be accepted you need £3200 in your bank and a return flight for one year..or if you have a single ticket you need £4100 in your bank to get in the country.
I only plan to stay in Aus for 6months and then plan to go to Tailand and NZ.
Any tips/ pointer would be much appreciated
I'm travelling out to Oz Sept 27th - flying into Cairns! It's my first long haul trip and first time travelling so I'm a bit nervous too but it's going to be a great adventure - best way to think of it!
As you said, you're meeting friends there so that's a bit of familiarity for you!
Best thing to do it just look up places you might want to see in Oz and perhaps work it out from there. I decided that I'd like to chill out for a month before starting the hard work of finding a job lol so I'm working down from Cairns - hitting Barrier Reef, Whitsundays, maybe Tully to do some white water rafting, Fraser Island etc.
Do you fancy Sydney first or perhaps Melbourne or working your way up or down East Coast? I've found Lonely Planet and Rough Guide books on Oz are great for informtation.
Hope that helps!
