.......with the ship in dry dock to clean barnacles and Gulf oil from the keel, the crew takes some time to simply relax as good pirates should.....on the veranda of the harbor bar sipping cocktails with little umbrellas in them......

"Get off yer arses ye scalawag dogs, you've got duties to perform", shouts Admiral Beerman. "Don't ye know what today is???? It's the Captain's Special Day of Happy, and you whelps just sit here twirling those little umbrellas in your teeth!!! Where is the Captain anyway." Uh, Admiral, we don't know....she left a few hours ago. "Right then, there's only one place she can be. No, not the bathroom, she can handle her rum. To the beach Mateys!!!!!"

The crew scatters madly, slowing only to pick up a bunch of little buckets and shovels and those foam floatie things for a trip to the beach. And towels, true pirates need big beach towels.

Searching wildly for their wayward Captain, the Admiral and the crew finally find her floating face down in the azure waters off the coast of Bonaire, arms outstretched. "Admiral, she's there in the water, face down. Is she OK!!!!!!" Aye Matey's, she's just doing what comes natural-like for her.....snorkeling. The crew breathes a deep sigh of relief and lines up to do that other thing that good pirates should.......

Hit it boys, and sing like ye mean it, this one's for your beloved Captain!!!! "But Admiral, she's face down, she won't hear us." Blast ye then, sing LOUD!!!!!

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot,
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We extort, we pilfer, we filch, and sack,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Maraud and embezzle, and even high-jack,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We kindle and char, inflame and ignite,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We burn up the city, we're really a fright,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We're rascals, scoundrels, villans, and knaves,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We're devils and black sheep, really bad eggs,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We're beggars and blighters, ne'er-do-well cads,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Aye, but we're loved by our mommies and dads,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

The Captain slowly raises her head out of the water, a wry smile coming to her face. Well, as wry as one can look with a snorkel in the mouth. The crew dives in after the Captain and begins to dive deep to pick up every sea shell they can find to decorate the Captain's quarters on the soon-to-be-refurbished pirate ship. The Admiral picks up a conch shell and begins to slowly play Happy Birthday to his Beloved Captain. And there was rejoicing. And cake.....chocolate, with chocolate frosting and little chocolate sprinkles on top. And the crew begins building sandcastles. Big ones, with turrets and gun emplacements, and a place to fly the pirate flag.

Happy Birthday My Beloved.

THANK YOU Nikki, Mike, Hien, Michael, Marlis and My Sweetie!!!!!

It's been great so far!!! K made filet mignon, stuffed squash flowers and baby burgundy beans for dinner last night. Mmmm!! This morning, poached eggs on toast with onion and proscuitto slathered with a luscious lime butter sauce.

K put big beads in my hair while we watched Pirates of the Caribbean last night too. So, I got the Captain Isa thing goin'. Now to find that tri-corn... Ah, there it is!

Yo ho yo ho, a pirate's life for me!!

I'm slow again (but only here ) Glad you had a wonderful birthday, Isa! Have you been working the rum?

THANK YOU Heather and Jun!!!!!!

The day was absolutely grand!!! Okay, we chose not to do the swan/duckie paddle boats on the river as it was 91F and humid as hell outside. Very little shade on the river too. But, the original idea was a good one.

Beerman made crispy roast duck and steamed carrots for dinner. No, he didn't burn the duck to a crisp - the skin was perfectly crispy. (I'm blessed to be married to someone who can cook and truly likes to cook.) Dessert was "Death By Chocolate" ice cream with hot fudge and caramel fudge sauces. Oh, and lots of fresh cherry pieces liberally added on top. Okay, now I'm hungry for leftovers.

You will laugh, but I received the season one DVD sets for both The Wild Wild West and I Spy. (Just finished season two disc one of Man From Uncle. Have a thing for Roberts- Robert Vaughn, Robert Conrad, Robert Culp. But, always wanted to be the "side kick" as they got to play with the gadgets.) Also got two excellent CDs and very cool nightshirts.

Beerman has been home all day today too. Now that's a wonderful gift all on it's own. Talk about being spoiled.... ;)

Rum? Why is the rum always gone?????? (Thank you, Captain Jack Sparrow.) Okay, we drank it yesterday. It's back to martinis in awhile.
