We r (2 ppl) going from Salzburg to Vienna. We have 3-4 days, hope to visit the most interesting/beautiful places, still staying with slim budget. There are few doubts and questions and your help is more then welcome!
1. By train or by car?
Sure travelling by car is more comfortable way to travel and we could cover more places. The quesion is: if travelling by train/buses in countryside sounds like reasonable or we r going to spend too much time and energy on connections and finally will pay the same price?
2. The road
(From Salzburg) > Hallstatt > Gmunder > Grunau > Wels > Steyr > Enns > Grein ---> to Vienna (have been in Wachau). I know it'll be impossible to cover all of them by public transport, pls, help me to choose the best. I know I want Hallstatt very much, Enns sounds special too, others are all lovely - hard to make a choice. Our interests are: sightseeing, nature (landscapes & animals) , architecture, arts, rural life. We r not abt anything guided, nor crowded places, nor shopping.
still a bit bothering, it's August now! any recommendations in place(s) on our road? We want it clean and cheap, if going by public transport then also location is important.
will b appreciate your advices!
