Thanks again for all great replies...

I would say I have not really got a hotel budget just a day to day budget of about £30 a day which includes my accommodation. I am young (22) so I dont really mind what area as I would love to try and explore a few places before we head on to next place anyway.

I think I will have to do some researchi on all the different areas of bangkok suggested and then take it from there. If anyone has any specific places they reccommend and reasons why please feel free to share...im sure im not the only one who appreciates some advice!

Hey ...

You will always find somewhere to stay, however after a long flight (which will probabaly be delayed) i would book the first couple of nights. That way you can crash out and not have any worries when you first arrive.

How many people are gonna ask this question? If you want a place to stay when you get there, then yes, book a room. If you want to walk around for ages with a huge backpack looking for a room in a foreign country where you probably don't speak the lingo and are wanting to get ripped off then don't book. Simple.

If I was you....go stay on Soi Rambutri...it s a couple of minutes walk from Koh San.....the guest houses round behind the temple are cheap and clean....if I remember correctly a double was around 300-400bht....!
dont bother booking a place.....I was there in high season and still got a room easily!

Thanks,
some of the guesthouses and hostels mentioned look pretty good so we will probably book one for teh first 2 nights just to get settled in then move on.
