Hi Everyone.

I'm heading to Thailand on my own end of October and heading straight to the full moon party!

Is anyone else heading there on their own that would like to meet up beforehand? I land in Bangkok on the 20th and the full moon party is on the 23rd!

Not sure if I can party on my own haha

Cheers

Sam :)

Sam

My buddy and I will also be at the Full Moon Party in October. We will be in Haad Rin by the 19th, we land in Bangkok on the 12t. There is absolutely no chance you will be partying by yourself, Koh Phangan is full of solo backpackers looking to meet new and interesting people. Just get down to the island and you will be fine. You can also book a hostel near Khao San Road. One night in a Hostel (especially close to the Full Moon Party) and you will most likely find a few travel companions to head down to Phangan with you. Let me know if you have any questions on how to get down there.

Happy Travels

Looking like I'll be hitting the 23rd October full moon party as well. I'm going to be in Ko Tao starting around the 10th of october, so hopefully I'll be able to figure out details on a place to stay and people to go with and all that once there, as all know at this point is the basics on getting from Tao to Phangan. Looking forward to meeting some cool people, so if anyone will be on Ko Tao in the couple weeks before drop me a line and we'll grab a beer

Hi,

I went to the Full Moon party in Feb 2010. The island is very easy to get to from Koh Samui or Ko Tao, just ask about the ferry. To the person in Ko Tao, I strongly recommend scuba diving if you are here for a full day. It's one of the best dive spots in the world.

For bookings, try to book something in the south-east part of the island, or expect a 40min taxi ride to your hostel from the party AND where the ferry drops you off.

Hostels also fill up very quickly, so I recommend booking 2-3 weeks in advance at least. Good luck!

Cheers,

Okay, so, accommodations for the full moon party. Looking through old messages and such here, some say if you are there shortly before the party you'll be fine, but I've also seen that you should book 2 weeks out, as above. I know it depends on the month and popularity and all that. I'll actually be doing my divemaster on Ko Tao prior, and at this point not sure how far in advance I'll be hitting Koh Phangan. I had been planning just a day or two early. Looks like most of the places listed on this site require a minimum of 5 days, however. So, basically my question for any of you is this- am I going to be alright just showing up 2 days before and finding a place? Or, failing that, should I just wait till I get to Tao on October 12th and figure it out from there? Or should I REALLY book a place 2 or 3 weeks before the party? Thanks!

I went to the Full moon the january before last, and a party of 8 of us managed to get accomodation two days before the full moon (Just). We travelled over from samui.

I say just because about 30 minutes after we got un packaed a massive ferry was on its way over full to the rafters with peeps. If that would of landed before we would of had no chance of accomodation.

The full moon party is in Koh Phangan on the 23rd October. Youd have to do some seriously quick travelling frmo Bangkok to get there in time.

Me traveling solo as well..
will be staying for a week in Koh Tao and planning to ferry back from FMP on the 23rd.

@Ofie
You can take a flight from BKK to Koh samui ( that's the closet airport) on Bangkok Airways or
BKK to Surat Thani on Air Asia ( A cheaper option) and take a ferry to Koh Phangan.

cheers
