Okay,

so it finally came down to 4 days on Crete and 2.5 days on Santorini, or 3 days on Crete and 3.5 days on Santorini. Besides the volcano, what could you recommend to see on Santorini (besides the view, obviously)? Is it better to spend another day on Santorini or 2.5 days should be enough and it's better to use the extra day to see Chania and Heraklion on Crete?

Also, I am still trying to figure out the driving situation on the islands. We could rent a motorbike, but people are saying that on Crete it might be better with a car.

Thank you in advance, guys.

P.

I'd spend five days on Crete and one on tourist trap Santorini. Crete is 160 miles long, and far more by road and averages about 20 miles across so a big island. Yes, get a car and no offence but don't drink and drive. Some inverse cambers, sharp bends, sheer drops, narrow roads where you pass other cars and such which is OK for the average driver but each year some who have drunk too much do some unintentional off road driving. A fair bit to see on the island and a few places to relax.
