baby wipes / toilet paper and nappy bags, ( some places you can't flush etc so they're handy) as Rich says you only get caught out once.....

otherwise spare batteries for camera, radio, torch...

I didn't know baby wipes were so popular! I always pack them as well, no matter where I'm going. If not baby wipes then a pack of moist towelettes will do just fine. Also, standard first aid stuff like bandaids, and like remaracable reading material, and could I possibly forget music? These are my super essentials, other than the usual.

Besides the usual passport, clothing, camera, etc, etc things.....

- A journal to remember all the good, and maybe even not so good moments (those are great to laugh about later)
- Water bottle (seems basic, but I know a lot of people that buy them and spend an outlandish amount of cash on water)
- Camping towel because they dry fast (unless I'm staying in a swanky-we-give-you-towels-hotel)
- Pepto Bismol...with a stomach as sensitive as mine, I need it.
- Watch. I just always have to have time.

I figure rather than listing everything, five will do.

Cheers,
Katie ;)

I haven't got much to add to the list (toothbrush and passport ARE obvious aren't they, why do i only just manage to remember them at the last minute??

but who else wants to know more about Gelli's life? A constantly packed bag for jumping on the plane at a moments notice, pocket knife always at hand, even going upstairs, and a rope as standard kit? and he can jet off set for anything with all of 15L luggage......
I want your life.

I have so many toothbrushes (or is it teethbrushes? ;)) because it's one of those things I always forget. It's terrible.

I take that hand washing lotion (that does not require water) rather than baby wipes, since it lasts ages, is antibacterial and never dries out . .I always seem to leave the baby wipe packet open somehow!!

The universal sink plus are essential, and so is some form of pen knife but remember you cannot pack the latter in your handluggage, which can be a nuisance if you are travelling light.

Other essentials - journal, resuable bottle for water, photocopy of passport (after the tsunami disaster I will now probably have a tiny laminated version which I can carry all the time)

Money or a cheque (some form of money) and something to pack everything in- a backpack of some sort. That's the minimum. And I have travelled with just that.
