How much per night do you want to spend on a room or hostel? Some of the guest houses and smaller hotels are around the same price as hostels. Knowing your price range makes it easier to recommend a place to stay at. Rooms with air, for Bangkok, will start around 600 baht. Luxury rooms will reach over 6000 baht per night. Many cheap hotels do not have fancy websites, you just have to know about them and check them out in person.

My preference for Bangkok is a place on Sukhumvit Road not far from the Nana Skytrain. In this area you will find hotels in all price ranges and a few hostels. In this area it easy to walk to restaurants, malls, nightlife, street vendors, travel agencies for tours and tickets plus you can use the Skytrain. The Skytrain can take you to many places like MBK, Chatuchak, subway, bus station at Ekamai and lots of other places.

The Soi One Hostel is one place to check out. http://www.soi1guesthouse.com/location.htm

Suk 11 Hostel is popular: http://www.suk11.com/2008/index.html

Here is a sample hotel that is convenient to many things, Maxim's Inn: http://www.maximinn.com/

How much do you want to spend per night?

Good luck.

I stayed at the wonderful Baan Dinso Boutique Hostel - inexpensive, approx. 800THB in '09

I have a blog entry for this place

We are probably looking to spend up to 800 for the room between us however teh cheaper the better. i suppose we just want value for money really. we would happily stay somewhere cheaper that was okay for what it was worth but would not want to spend say 800 on a dump when we could get somewhere half decent for 600.

Is that price for a double or single? I will need a double for us both and also do you have any images of what the room looked like? or if it has a fan etc?
