Hello Everyone, great forum!

First the facts:

Nationality: South African
Country of residence: UK
Intended purpose of stay: Tourism
Intended duration of stay: 9 days
Intended country of stay: France

I have applied for 2 Schengen visas in the past with no problems at all (this was in 2008). But since receiving my last French Schengen Visa I see they have changed the accomodation requirement when applying. In the past you could make a hotel reservation and use the email confirmation for the visa application. Now you need this email confirmation print out AND a fax from the hotel (sent to me) with the following info:

Applicants full name
Dates of check in/out
Hotel address and contact details

I have made a few bookings so far and NONE of them are willing to fax the reservation to me! I tried phoning them too but no luck. This has got to be the most frustrating requirement I have come across!

So my question is, can someone recommend which hotel I can use that will fax me my hotel reservation so I can apply for the visa?

...hello, sounds like a catch 22 situation...where are you going in France?...

Currently we want to arrive in Calais (going on the Eurotunnel) and then Strasbourg followed by Nice and Monaco.

The trips pretty flexible at this point so I don't care where I book the hotel.

I am about to give up on visiting France since I am having no luck with getting a fax of my booking (even with the agents help).

Well, that sounds annoying, especially in today's 'non-fax' world!! And I'm guessing it has to be the hotel sending you the fax; it couldn't be the site where you book your hotels?

Correct, it MUST be the hotel sending the fax. The booking web sites cannot/will not do it!

Most hotels know people are asking for a fax for a visa and will cancel the booking once they receive the fax so they don't bother. I don't blame them either as its a hassle but its the stupidity of the government implementing this silly requirement.

Hmm, how about one of the sites where you pre-pay your entire stay? Some booking sites are still like that, and that significantly decreases the chance of the booking being cancelled I guess? I guess in the end it's the kindness of whoever is manning the front desk at that moment that really matters! How annoying

I have already cancelled a few hotel bookings cause they wont send me a fax. I also called booking.com and they couldn't help.
