Incase anyone is looking for travel insurance online, try insure-and-go (that might be all one word) I got the backpackers gold deal for £220 and wont have to pay any excess on claims with that. I hunted around a few companies and that was the best deal i could find.

The people on the phone were really nice and offered me extra money off the package because apparently they were having a good day . Sweet.

Glad someone reccommended insure and go. I am just about to buy my insurance, and it happened to be with them. I agree, there is no excess which is good and covers you for the standard things that all rivals do too!!

Wow, maybe the prices in Europe are higher, but that seems expensive to me. When I went backpacking I paid 60 dollars for I believe it was up to three months of coverage. For those of you in Canada, and if you're a member of CAA (the Canadian Automobile Association), they have good rates. I believe rates for non-members are only slightly higher. I think in the U.S., AAA offers the same type of deals.

for 8 months worldwide, (exc America and Canada) with the gold package (no excess), one below ski insurance it was 179 English Pounds. I have looked about a bit and this seems around average for this type of cover. can anyone reccommend any better in the UK then??

I went through and got 13 months cover to Aus and NZ for £178 (their standard cover. They also do a budget one that doesn't cover personal items that get stolen). Thought that was pretty good and they were helpful over the phone when I had a problem with the website! Off in two weeks now (V excited!!)
