Hi,

A friend and I will be in Texas (Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas areas) for a vacation at the end of November. Obviously being out in the states over thanksgiving, we'd love to be able to experience some of the traditions of the actual day (rather than spend it alone in a motel!).

Would we be crazy attempting to find a family to host us for the day? If anyone knows of any methods that might make such a task achievable we'd be grateful of advice.

We'd pay for the turkey and bring english goodies!

Anne

I would try 'couchsurfing.org' or 'tripping.com' websites.
They may be arranging a meet up for thanksgiving in the area you are going nearer the time anyway. :)

What a great idea. I really hope you can find someone to invite you over. If so please visit us again and let us know what you think.

If couchsurfing fails, many churches give Thanksgiving Dinner to the public. I go to one such Lutheran Church for Christmas Dinner, and it's delicious and free.
