hello i am an australian touring up for Los Angeles up to vancouver over 90 days and am cycling. i was planning on cycling around Australia and would have found that easy with most possible threat being dehydration/heat stroke and death as i cycled through the nullarbor plain's. but the journey is taking me to the states and i will be the first to admit my total lack of knowledge of the west coast of the states if anyone could educate me with some infomation of such things as weather patterns, flora and fauna and threats such as climate, animal attacks, poision's animals, food and water and other such things will be helpful i will be doing the trip between may to around th july all infomation will be helpful.
You would do well to join a few west coast bicycling forums to get a good route to travel , most American roads can be very dangerous for bicyclists as the traffic is usually very fast and theres not much room for bikers.

thanks for the help Daagon can't wait to cycle through oregan looks like a beautiful and amazing place and i am sure the roads arn't half as bad as any other road in the world and in fact a lot safer then a lot of roads i have ridden on (riding on an indoneasian highway is more likely going to get you killled then in the states) and have already looked at the roads that are most safest to travel while cycling but thanks for the concern jambo. i'll also be posting up my findings on the safest way to travel and i found that of course i am doing the trip backwards the safest way is from vancouver to L.A and there are plenty or roads to travel and hey if there was not a bit of risk where is the fun. of course being stupid is a diffrent story and i am thankfull for the help some people have offered so far.
