G'day
I'm trying to follow this and remember how things were before the update. I built 4 trips under the old format and haven't had a chance to build one in the new format. I wasn't all that familiar with the old one, now I'm largely confused.
This doesn't add anything meaningfull but when did the new format get activated ??
The whole concept is absolutely the best travel logging site I've found and I've been looking for quite a while.
Cheers and thanks for the facility ... Tony

1.The list of destinations does not scroll down past the first 15 or so to allow selection of those at the bottom, you can only do this by selecting the destination on the map first

There should be a scrollbar showing in the left pane for you which you can use to scroll down to the last one. If this isn't showing, let me know what browser you're using in case that has something to do with it.

2.Would it be possible to have the latest destination at the top of the list?

I can see that this might appeal, but I can also see a lot of people totally not liking that. My gut feeling is that people would prefer this in chronological order. The only option might be a link to show them the other way around. Not sure what priority we'd place on such a feature though.

3.Don't know whether it is google maps in china or internet speed but I am unable to save changes to destinations...keeps timing out

Sounds like a bug of some sort. We'll do more testing on this. Our main mapping developer is in China, so he should notice any location specific problems from there.

4.Is it possible to retain the dotted line which showed future route?

Unfortunately Google Maps didn't have this as an easy option. We played with making them grey, but it really wasn't clear what that meant. For now, we just left it out in the hope that an upgrade from Google will make this possible. Or maybe we'll find another roundabout way of doing it. We're definitely aware of this compromise though.

They are working now.

Excellent! And also just fixed a bug that caused the map to be a little small in the inserting popup. Should be much better now.

The hotel listing looks horrible btw. It seems the address section is too small in the wiki guide. Can this be set to a wider margin? At least in the Madrid article. In other articles this appears not to be the case. (the space for the addresses is much wider.)

This one seems to be specific for Windows 7 in combination with IE8 (see links)

P.S. it might be helpful to have this topic as a sticky for a while.

The "Top Posters in Past 30 Days" list on the member stats page isn't styled correctly.

Ok, tidied that up a bit.

This post is now stickied too by the way, but that only really applies inside the System Talk forum. In the all-threads view, we don't show stickied threads at the top (there would be quite a few of them)

Hi,

The new site looks pretty good to me. One bug I've found is that when I try and edit photos I've already uploaded by adding locations etc, when I click on save changes it takes me to an error page and won't let me save the changes.

Other than that all good!

I'm sorry to say, but posting pictures on this new site is a total disaster. The map doesn't match up, it's impossible to copy location to the other photos, and then when we do it individually it doesn't save.

We've just had a good look into this and found some definite problems here, which are the most likely cause of your problems. Still working on fixing some more obscure issues related to it, but the main one which was the most likely cause of your problems has been resolved. Let me know if it still happens.

Also, I've just finally got the search working properly as intended. This is a major upgrade on our previous search function which was seriously broken! All things going well, this search will be updated every 10 minutes.

Also, when it comes to the forum search specifically, it will return the actual page that the phrase was found on. So you don't click through to the thread and spend the next 20 minutes hunting through the pages of that thread to find out where the content was.

All in all, a great improvement

One thing that I just tested and is pretty neat for those uploading a lot of photos... if you are using a geo-enabled device, like the iPhone for example, the location that sets for the photo will automatically be added when you upload it to Travellerspoint. I didn't adjust the location on this photo at all for example, and I couldn't have gotten it much more accurate if I'd tried.

Clearly not all cameras are geo-enabled just yet, but it's going that way pretty fast!
