Something else I just noticed, is that on a forum post it no longer shows the number of posts by a user. You have to go to their profile to see that. This was something else that was useful to see at a glance when deciding on potential spam.

Popular opinion wins out on this one too and it's been reinstated. I quite liked this feature too, and I think there is just enough space to make it work :)

2. We've got a search index of all the photos now. If anyone feels like it, editing the feature descriptions of all the currently featured articles to also include some photos (6 is good) would do wonders for the appearance of the guide's front page! Got a problem with forum indexing and member indexing at the moment, but those will be sorted later.

Consider that done;)
Few things again of course:
1. It didn't gave any suggestion for featured photos of Toronto and Chicago, while adding photos. But there are quite a few when searching in the photo section and search advance on 'featured photos only'.
2. Nevada has some non-featured photos of burning man. I guess that's intentionally? Should be changed after the event I think, featured photos are prefarable.

Cheers
Mike.

Another issue I have noticed. When I look at my photo gallery, photos on the first page are appearing twice. This doesn't seem to happen on the second page of photos, and it doesn't appear with the photo I uploaded today.

For the sake of being thorough, did you upload these back in July, possibly when the site was having one of its hiccups?

No, that can't be it - these photos have the same ID as each other. They *really* should not be showing!

I noticed the same thing in the featured photo galleries of countries, but only on the second page. The other pages (1, and 3 and up) were fine.

I knew I could count on you ;)

Funny, some sort of bug hitting the search where it only returns a subset of results. I know how to fix it temporarily (and have done that), but I'm not sure what happened in the first place, so chances are it will revert back to doing this again. I'll need to look into this more closely another time.

Yes, certainly. In fact, you'd be more than welcome to line up more events too. Ideally we're hoping to have a new one on the front page every day or two! Which clearly means a *lot* more featured articles. If we plan our events list in advance a bit, then we should have a good idea of which ones need work.

Ok, for those of you with trouble in the message center, please try again. I've just set up the archiving system and now you will see a few automatically added folders on the right with your messages from previous years in them

It doesn't mention the script error but I can not remove the threads from the trash. If I press delete it removes them. But if I go to my inbox, it shows the full 102 in trash again?
Also, is there an option to remove a 2009 post archive to my inbox for my convenience?

EDIT: ok now I see instead of delete the sign with the option to move trash post to the trash. LOL. That explains the fact that I was carrying water to the ocean

Noticed there were now 9 for Malaysia. We should decide to have either 6 or 9 in all of them, to make it look consistent.

I missed it why the event calendar should be linked to a featured article by the way Empty featured articles look a little ...well...amateur

I'd personally say 6. Though if there is more content on the left, then it can obviously support 9.

The event calendar governs what is on the front page. But only featured articles can show on the front page. I probably could have linked that Burning Man event to the US to ensure it was a half decent article. Nevada just seemed so much more relevant ;)

Ok, well, we'll keep it this way, not a problem anyway regarding both number of photos and the linking to Nevada.

I'll try and update some regular events in the near future. Vuelta d'Espagna for example

O, another thing I noticed: when I want to view all the photos of the USA from the link at the USA article, the fist photos I see (out of 5,700 or so) is one featured in the US Virgin Islands gallery and tagged correctly as US Virgin Islands. Think that should be changed to avoid this problem.

Also, only the featured articles (at least the one on the front page, not when reading the article) I can view photos and blogs.
Would be nice to also have that option in the article itself when reading about another country not featured. Is that possible?
Could be included in the toolbar where also the Europe --> France --> Paris for example is, but then on the right sight under the toolbar with 'stats, history, discuss'.

PS: This is the most active thread in at least months

Any way I can revert back to the older format - till I'm used to this one?

Got the duplicate photo thing worked out. Problem is, I just couldn't work out what that code was even there for in the first place. So I've commented it out which has ensured there are no duplicates now. But keep an eye out for weirdness. Might have caused another issue in the process
