Only the Brits would sell fuel in litres but compare fuel consumption in miles per gallon ?

It's only because although all our petrol pumps show the price in litres - thank the EU for that, when the car companies are trying to sell products on their fuel consumption performances, they always quote MPG - not MPL.
So often the UK is blasted for its petrol and diesel costs. There are countries in Europe that are more expensive though.

ALWAYS wave to say thank you if someone lets you pass!! Otherwise you'll have someone like me giving you evils :)

And most of the big supermarkets (cheaper petrol/diesel) have the 'pay at pump' thing for cards...try and fill up there before you hit the remote parts.

I thought I'd give a little follow up: I went, I drove, I'm back. Yes, I survived! And I was able to refuel! Thanks to all of you for the help--Assynt was truly amazing and I would have been so limited without a car.:)
