Myself and my girlfriend are planning an around the world trip. We plan on doing it in 6 weeks, we are starting to plan it now to travel in december this year. Does anyone have any tips, like where to book flights, wheres not to miss etc. All help very much appreciated and needed as we are very new to this.

Thanks

Six weeks is a very short time for a RTW, so try and not do too much or you'll end up permanently travelling and not seeing anything.

For a personal recommendation, I would say you should not miss Angkor in Cambodia - absolutely amazing place.

How about....London, Berlin, Prague, Tokyo, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, New Orleans, New York, and back home. That still allows 4-5 days in each place. But really, 6 weeks does seem like a REALLY short time for a RTW trip. The 'MUST SEES' would be a LOOONNGG list. Would you consider a "traditional" 6 week romp around Europe? Since you'd be starting from Ireland anyway....I think you might be able to see more and enjoy the 6 weeks and spend less time getting from one place to the next. Just a thought...

backpackit thanks for the reply, the reason i'am doing the around the world thing is because i've seen most places in europe. I'd love to go for more then 6 weeks but jobs/mortgages etc etc wont allow it, altough my girlfriend would drop everything in the morning and head off into the sunset. I was thinking of going to 4 or 5 destinations and staying for a week or so in each. Where do all of ye people book your flights?? is it online or is it with travel agents? thanks again guys!!

Hong Kong is a bit expensive, Singapore is interesting for a few days, otherwise Bali ...one or two weeks - party time!!! You'lll love it.

Thanks wocca, bali looks great might go there for a week before hitting oz. do you reckon it would be possible to go to bali on the way out and singapore on the way back?
