Hi all,

I'm also very new to travelling. I've been planning my first trip for a few months and decided on South America. I originally planned to do an entire RTW but think it'll be way too rushed in 6 months, so I'm going to concentrate on SA. It's great to see so many other people having the same idea. I feel a bit more relaxed to see loads of others planning near enough the same trip! I am planning on booking my flight from London to Rio to get me there for the carnival in early March. I will stay in Brazil for a few weeks and then plan to travel on to Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and maybe Colombia (if I feel brave enough).

Would be great to meet up with other travellers in Rio as everyone seems to be heading out that way end of Feb/early March. If anyone fancies a chat, please PM me.

Thanks,

Ash

Hi everyone,

I will be traveling for three months (feb/mar/april) in South America. I'm going solo and was wondering if anyone is headed towards Patagonia area? I will be spending a few months there hiking and camping and was wondering if anyone else is doing the same. After that I'm going north into Bolivia for a bit. My plans are open so if you think you might be in the area send me a message and maybe we can meet up. Cheers and good luck!

Matt

Hi all,

I'm currently in Rio and thinking about heading to either Bolivia, Peru or Florianopolis for a few weeks. I'd be keen to meet up for anyone already in Rio and let me know if any of the above destinations look good.

Cheers,
Nathan

Hello all,

I'm travelling for the first time ever to South America for 6 months starting 4th March. Starting in Rio for the carnival I am going to Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia and Chile.

I'm a 29yr old female from Leeds, United Kingdom and will be travelling with my best friend who's a 27yr old female.

We are so excited and are hoping to go with the flow as much as possible but already have the carnival booked (8 day organised tour which looks ace), a Spanish course in Argentina and the Inca Trail.

Would be great to chat to people about plans and maybe meeting up.

Em

Hench,

Firstly, its really hot! Starts out at 32 degrees Celcius at 9am and then gets hotter. Make sure your accommodation has a/c. The people are nice however barely anyone speaks English so a basic understanding of Portuguese will be a plus. I have felt safe the whole time, have mainly stuck to the busier areas like Lapa, Copacabana, Ipanema and Santa Teresa.

Thanks for the tip Amny, I'll check it out. Thinking I'll head to Salvador firstly though.

Hey TrekSA, hope all's good. My friend and I will be in Buenos Aires around that time, not sure on exact dates yet but we then plan on staying in Argentina for about 3 weeks. What's your plans?
